Jessica Bradley

November 2017 KSSN Spotlight

For the month of November, we are shining a bright spotlight on Jessica Bradley, our community school coordinator at East Kentwood High School. Jessica, who has been with KSSN for 1.5 years, provides support to students to help them overcome barriers and become their best selves, whether through emotional support in crisis counseling and connecting students to mental health services, by providing students with basic needs and connecting them to community programs, or helping students prepare for college or careers.

When asked what she is most proud of, Jessica says she is proud to be part of a school and part of a KSSN team that puts students first. “The staff makes decisions with the students’ best interest at heart. The teachers and staff at East Kentwood recognize the challenges that students face and are accommodating to those challenges. I am surrounded by innovative people always thinking about ways to improve the school. With their support, I’ve been able to operate a Clothing Center within the school, have a mobile dentist available at the school twice a year, organize an attendance team, and plan an upcoming career/college fair. I also look forward to finding ways to incorporate yoga and mindfulness within the school to help reduce stress and behavior problems.”

When Jessica is asked what she loves most about East Kentwood High School, she says, “I love how diverse my school is. A motto we have adopted is ‘We are the World.’ We have students from all over the world -- 57 countries to be exact! I also love how big my school is. There is such great energy radiating from among the many students, which makes for exciting pep assemblies, football games, and spirit weeks. Additionally, through a variety of classes, sports, and clubs, there are so many opportunities for students to cultivate passions and learn about themselves.”

Interestingly, when Jessica is not busy at East Kentwood High School, you may find her teaching and practicing yoga. She teaches at a local hot yoga studio and runs her own small business providing on-location yoga classes. She also love cats and volunteers with Carol’s Ferals on the Adoption Team and as the Director of Social Media. On the weekends, Jessica enjoys relaxing at home with her husband and cat, Billy. And she says something that most people don’t know about her is that she loves rocking out to heavy metal!

Jessica, whether you are working with students and staff, or meditating and practicing yoga, you leave an indelible mark wherever you are, and KSSN and East Kentwood High School are very lucky to have you as part of our teams. We are proud to recognize you as our November Spotlight!
